Learn how to utilise and cook wild plants growing in Harborne. This course is ideal for those of you who enjoy walking in pure wilderness and want to discover secret spots for total escape from city life.
The class is delivered by Totally Wild UK. Founder, James Wood, identified no less than 36 edible plants along the Harborne walkway which follows the route of an old railway. The class will be delivered by James or one of his colleagues.
You will learn how to correctly and safely identify and harvest a range of wild greens such as wild garlic and jelly ear mushrooms. Following the wild food exploration, you will return to the Food School to prepare a seasonal, Asian inspired meal.
Running of the day:
- Arrival at the cookery school and introductions
Refreshments (coffee, tea) and a wild food taster
Walk to Harborne Walkway to forage
Cook and eat main course and dessert using foraged ingredients
By the end of the day you will be a budding forager in the making with skills you need to safely collect food and ideas for how to cook up your harvest.
Bring Note pad and suitable clothing
Children If you wish to bring along a child (under 18) this will cost an additional £40 for children over 7 and is free for younger children. Please leave a note when booking. The child’s place can be paid for on the day.
