There are so many fad diets out there and most people know that diet promoting companies bank on failure. The Mediterranean Diet seems to have stood the test of time and if versions of it are adopted, can lead to sustained weight loss. The core diet comprises vegetables, legumes, wholegrains, fish and nuts as well as olive oil which replaces other forms of fat. Herbs are used to flavour food rather than salt. Red meat and sweets are considered occasional treats for religious and other celebrations.
