Welcome to Harborne Food School. We offer cookery classes, professional chef demonstrations and unique food experiences in our beautifully designed cookery school within the Grade II listed Clock Tower building on Harborne High Street, Birmingham. Our facilities are ideal for cooking classes, cooking demonstrations, food focus groups, food related training, private parties, private dining, team building and corporate events.

Silvia Causo-Garbutt

Silvia was born in Italy and inherited her culinary skills (and recipes!) from her father, a talented chef who works in their Italian family business and has travelled all over Italy to learn typical recipes from all the different regions.She grew up in the family business “ Bar del popolo” (which translates into “Cafe of the people”) helping her family to cook and serve local people with fresh, handmade food.  Since she moved to England 15 years ago she has gained a degree in sculpture and worked in schools as an artist but in her heart she always wanted to start her own food business. Today Silvia owns Delizie Italiane, a successful Street Food business. Typical of the Italian cuisine her food is simple and made with fresh, quality ingredients. She is also always very keen in experimenting with new ingredients from different cultures. Some of Silvia’s specialities are: Arancini (risotto rice balls) from Sicily, Calzoni (deep fried folded stuffed dough) from Puglia, Tiramisu` from the north of Italy, Torrone (soft nougat) from Piemonte. But her menu is constantly evolving because her intention is to transform her food business into a “Bar delle Delizie Italiane” a mobile version of a typical Italian “Cafe” and to serve the English public with the diverse variety of good quality Italian food she grew up with.
