In this hands-on cooking class, Chef Tutor ,Charlotte Pike, will demonstrate key techniques for preparing ‘Tortilla de Patatas’ and ‘Croquetas’. You will also learn to prepare ‘Chorizo al Sidra’ (chorizo cooked in cider) which is a simple but effective food pairing. ‘Tortilla de Patatas’ is more complicated than a standard omelette and it can be served either hot or cold. The world’s top chefs compete to perfect this tapa and there is controversy around whether caramelised onions should be added to the sautéed potato. Croquetas is probably the most popular tapa – the key is learning to prepare the prefect béchamel to which small pieces of jamon can be added before rolling, breading & frying. So, although tapas seems simple, expertise and attention to detail is required to perfect.
If there is time Charlotte will also demonstrate ‘gambas al ajilo’ (prawn and garlic) and churros (Spanish ‘choux’ donuts).
You will enjoy the tapas you prepare alongside a Spanish wine tasting. Bread, almonds, olives, manchego & quince will also be included to complete your experience.
