Chef Tutor Sachiko teaches at the best cooking schools in the UK and has also worked as the assistant to the head chef at Umu – a Michelin Star Japanese restaurant in Mayfair. She noticed the rise in interest for ‘Modern Japanese’ cuisine like Katsu curry and gyoza or dumplings and has developed this session plan based on this.
This course provides skills to cook Japanese dishes at home. Begin by introducing Japanese ingredients. Starting with Gyoza which are Japanese dumplings then making panko breadcrumbed veg and seafood on skewers to deep fry. Preparation and cooking are all hands-on. The session will give you top tips using authentic methods. If you are vegetarian or have special dietary requirements just let us know and we will adapt recipes to suit. Key ingredients include Panko (Japanese breadcrumbs), Gyoza wrapper (Japanese dumpling skin), Tonkatsu sauce and Rayu – Japanese chilli oil. We will advise on where best to purchase ingredients in Birmingham.
You will be welcomed with refreshments and the session will end with a meal of the food produced and glass of wine/alternative drink.
